This reminds me: on receipt of our '95 Dakota w/318, I took a look
at the air filter on a whim, and found what looks like a secondary
mesh filter installed around the stock paper element filter.
What the heck is this thing? I didn't notice anything of the sort
when I reviewed all the Dakota literature I have. Shipping stuff that
wasn't removed by the dealer? Free factory superfilter?
Although I suppose it could increase manifold vacuum a bit, I left it
where I found it. I think I'll probably order the K&N filtercharger
anyway (had good luck with K&N products in the past).
