 Hello all

After a lot of research and a lot of eavesdropping on this very helpful
group of Dakota owners, I also bought a brand new Dakota. It is the spitting
image of Lee's truck except it is all white. I don't have the 4 wheel ABS
(wish I did), but I have the automatic (yes, I really wanted it). I got the
truck a couple of weeks ago but today I finally got all the after market
goodies installed. I have installed a Rhino liner, fifth wheel hitch, brake
controller, a white cab height canopy, stainless steel rocker panels and
some sporty white louvers for the quarter windows.

The money I spent for the overhead console was definately a poor investment
but it came with it so I took it. I don't care much for the cassette player
either and I can't believe the console armrest is almost three inches lower
than the door armrests. What kind of goofy engineering is this?? Otherwise
I absolutely love the truck and I will definately have to save up for a CD
player.

This truck certainly has a lot of poop. I tried a couple of hills and I am
sure it will pull my 4050lb.(dry), 21.5' fifth wheel, trailer with no
problem (glad I opted for the scarce 3.90 rearend to give me a tow cap. of
6400#). I have only had the trailer on for a couple of short runs around our
place because I didn't have suitable mirrors at the time. Those slip on
mirrors are just too short for a full width trailer on a compact truck. They
gave me a great view of the front of the trailer but were impossible to back
up with. I ended up spending $200 for a set of McKesh mirrors that strap
onto the doors and hook onto the window trim. The trim is so flimsy that I
am having small stainless steel brackets made so they hook directly onto the
doors. I don't relish the thought of screwing the brackets on there but they
will be far less objectionable than permanently mounted trailer mirrors of a
suitable width.

Good, me neither. Although Chrysler is providing some very good rebates here
right now. ($1000 plus an additional $500 if anyone in your family owns a
Chrysler product) That took away any desire to try and find the elusive used
'95 or '94 with everything I wanted on it.(Of course it had to have low
mileage and be at an unbelievably low price)

Thanks to everyone that directly and indirectly helped me choose a great
little truck. Almost ready to tour the Oregon coast, and I'll let you all
know how it pulls.

Ron
