Mine (89 Dakota) is on the frame rail right in front of the fuel tank, it's
about 2" in diameter and 4" long with a mounting braket to screw it to the
frame. It is the same one used on my two Daytonas. I have been contemplating
mounting it up in the engine compartment on the Daytonas cause it is a pain to
get at. Not such an issue on a 4x4 Dakota.

I would be real faithful about changing it. With fuel injection, gas is
constantly being pumped to the pressure regualator then being returned to the
tank so more fuel flows through the filter than is actually being burned by the
engine.

Do not be suprised by the price on this filter it's more expensive than than
most ($13-$18). Likely because it's heavy weight stainless steel to survive
under the vehicle.
