Has anyone use Summit Racing Equipment for mail-order parts?
I have a 92 Magnum 5.2. No ignition maint. parts have been changed in
it's 75K mile life (says something for OEM ignitions). So, just because,
because, because, I now have the urge to replace the perfectly
functioning ignition.
I talked to Summit tech support and he suggested the following
Accell U-groove ($1.50) or NGK V-power ($1.39). He didn't even mention
the $6 Splitfires.
Taylor ($38.39) or Summit wires ($34.95). BTW, Taylor has some
cool-lookin' steel-braid 8mm wires for $42.50.
MSD-6A ignition ($118.75 aack!) They have a MSD-5 that is $67.95 but
the tech. said "...pay twice a much for the 6A and get 4-times the
performance..."
MSD Blaster 2 coil for MSD ignitions ($27.25)
K&N Filtercharger ($30.30). (BTW K&N FIPK $104!!! Summit said I could
spend my money on better things).
Dist. Cap/Rotor
I asked him about the MP ECU ($44.00) but was told the MSD ignition did
not need it. Anyone know why?
Total: about $240 for a new semi-HP ignition.
And the good news: I found a small hole in my muffler, so now I can
justify chunking it and getting that Dyna-Flow I've been wanting. I think I'll
stick with the single 3" exit.
