Form and function

Comments from <TeamGTZ@aol.com> are in quotes:

"However, I think that you're off the mark about what trucks are
for."

Since my opinions are formed from my experiences and
knowledge, they are truly mine.

If I had $50 or $2000 or more to spend on my truck, you probably
couldn't tell anything had been done just by looking at it (unless I
had to change wheels to handle bigger rubber). I would not spend
it on paint or slamming or trim pieces or smoked headlight covers
or tassles hanging from the headliner. It would all go into the
mechanicals for the purpose of making more power and getting
that power to the ground. I guess I'm really more into "sleepers"
that "flashers." To me, beauty is found in function more than
form.

The guy that shares my cube has a new 96 Ranger flare-side (his
1st new car) and refuses to let anything be put in the bed, even a
bed-liner. It is his truck, he can use it as he wishes, but I think
he's wasting a valuable resource.

"the main reason I bought my Dakota. All it is to me is a muscle
car with a really big trunk."

I agree totally. The numbers 1, 2, and 3 reasons I bought the
Dakota were V-8, V-8, and V-8. Big engine+less weight=go
faster, quicker.

"Plus, since I can wallop the clown in a Mustang (personal
conquests include the 88, 92, 93, and 96 V8s) at the
stoplight"

These conquests are fun, but what is also fun is surprising the kid
in the (daddy's) Talon TSI or Probe GT when he won't let you
around him on the highway. You go the other way and he TRIES
to shut the door, but you are already gone!

I also get my jollies thrashing megabucks sports cars with my '86
FJ1200. Come to think of it, I redline the FJ in 3 gears even when
there is no one to thrash. Got my eyes on a V-max, next.

Speed is irrelevant. Acceleration is everything.

Later,
