Hello all
How timely. I have an appointment on Wednesday for my 10K service and a
repeated complaint about the very same clank Glenn has. Just like Glenn I
also have a 96 4x4 club cab V8 with limited slip diff (3.90) and the
automatic transmission.
It started off as just a "clunk" and only occurs after the truck has been
fully warmed up. I can make it do it consistantly by accellerating briefly
then decellerate for about 10 seconds then accellerate again. .... CLLLLUNK !!
It has now turned into a godawfull "clank" and when I am decellerating
downhill on a rough gravel road it continually clanks every time I hit as bump.
So far the dealer has told me that this is normal. Please tell me it isn't so !!
I also have complained twice about the shifting pattern of this truck.
Whenever I go up a hill or attempt a pass and boot it, the transmission
seems to downshift two gears, the motor races like mad and then immediatly
upshifts to the gear it should have downshifted to in the first place. The
dealer also says...."normal". Give me a break, never have I owned a vehicle
that I have been so "aware" of what the drivetrain is doing as with this truck.
Is anybody else's 96 as "normal" as mine??
TIA
