A thought on freezing locks from mechanical jamming to frozen from weather
which may or may not work. There's a product called Break Free CLP which,
unlike WD-40, doesn't gum things up but displaces water and lubricates
down to -65 F (-54 C). It cleans crud out of the lock mechanism,
displaces the water, and lubricates. It's spendy but it works. Stick the
applicator tube into the keyslot and let 'er rip. Wipe off the excess
that runs out with a rag. No nasty odor either.
Works well on those evil firearms too, prevents rust and keeps them from
freezing when your out after the wily Bambi and his cousins when it's
cold : )!
