Yep, it has been done. :) Just recently, as a matter of fact.
Its called the Dakota Sidewinder. I haven't actually seen any of the
magazine stories on it, but according to others on this list, there
are articles in the current issues of Hot Rod and Sport Truck.

The v10 used in this truck is the Viper endurance engine, rather
than the one used in the V10 Ram, which makes sense, given that
the V10 in the Ram seems to have been designed for low rpm torque,
rather than speed. (I could be wrong, maybe this is just my
impression due to the gearing. I'm sure someone will let us
know if I am.) ;)

I'm betting that you'll have a pretty tough time getting the v10
into a current Dakota though. The 360 will fit, but I'm not sure
if any of the larger engines will. If you want a v10 in a current
Dakota engine bay, I'm guessing you'll have to do some pretty
intensive modifications to make it work. (The Sidewinder is
a concept vehicle, and apparently, the only "Dakota" in it is the
sheet metal in front of the cab.)
