Hi all:
I just spoke with MagnumMrk on the phone. His black '97 Sport 4x2
has been delivered and is resting peacefully in his garage. He's
already started working on a few mods to the engine and the
suspension (the truck only has 300 miles on it). Since Mark lives
about three miles from me, he invited me to stop over and check out
his new ride. I think I'll have to give it the "once-over" this
weekend.
I asked him why he dropped off the Dakota list (you've probably seen
all those bounced messages from aol.com saying that
'magnummrk@aol.com' is not a valid user) and he said that he had
phone line problems in his apartment so he cancelled his AOL
membership. I'll try to talk him into rejoining the list so he can
share his '97 wisdom with us.
If any of you guys (and gals) are looking for a Dak but don't want to
pay the big jing for a new one, Mark's previous Dakota is still on
the dealer's used lot. He added a *lot* of mods to it. The dealer
has "OVER 300 HORSEPOWER" written on the windshield in neon marker.
There is a list of performance parts that Mark added taped to the
inside of the windshield. Mark told me that the dealership hasn't
let anyone test drive it yet. Evidentally you have to be a 'serious
buyer' before they'll let you go out and roll the hoops. I think the
truck is very reasonable priced for having six grand worth of parts
added to it. I think it's stickered around thirteen or fourteen
thousand. If anyone has a 'need for speed' but doesn't want to spend
time wrenching, this truck would be a great deal.
If anyone has a message for MagnumMrk, email it to me and I'll drop
it off at his place this weekend.
