Steve,

I cannot answer #1 or #3, but regarding the Infinity system, I think
the speakers have 25W amps attached to them and they're taking a
line-level input from the ChryCo radio (cheep way to improve the
factory stereo). If you want a better-than-factory sound system,
delete the factory sound system and start with a big hole in the dash.
Otherwise, you're gonna be shackled by the screwy wiring and
grounding schemes the factory uses.

Maybe the contributers with the '97's could shed some light here...

OR, you could get a high-volume retail electronics store, like Best
Buy, to install an amp. (Alphasonic) to the factory radio ("...sure, we
do it all the time!"). ZAP!!! Claim to Best Buy's insurance returned
check for $540 for factory radio-turned-paperweight. In goes
aftermarket CD, Alphasonic, Pioneers installed at high-tech
low-volume auto electronics specialty store.

BTW, this was done on my '92 DAK, Infinity not an option.

BTW II, I bought a '95 Ram Wagon SLT with the premium radio and
Infinity speakers. But, what is screwy is, of the four speakers, only
the fronts are Infinity. The rears appear to be plain old paper cone
6X9's. So, I may try to yank them, drop in some good one's and hook
up an Alphasonic 100X2 amp. to them. It takes line inputs and I could
control it through the radio's fader.

Have fun!
