& I don't know what the problem is with everyone's 5 speeds. I have a 95
& V8/5spd/3.90SG and mine shifts great! With the exception of the slightly
& longer throw, it shifts better than the two 5.0 liter rustangs I've
& owned! I used to miss gears with them all the time due to the tremendous
& chassis flex binding things up. I raced my Dak quite a bit last year
& winning 1st place in no-electronics at the Mororplex last May. I sure
& hope I don't start having any problems.
The 5 speed transmission used for the V8 is a completely different beast
than the 5 speed used with the V6. Dodge calls them "medium duty" and
"light duty". 1994 was the first year for the NV3500 (V8 version) 5
speed, and apparently it had some bugs, because they made some changes
for '95. I don't know if the shifter fork was one of these changes, but
some parts of the shifter did change. I'll have to check the shop
manual again. As for the shifting, have you ever driven a big truck,
like a 1 ton, with a manual? It doesn't shift like a little sports car,
but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it. I have not heard
of any problems with the V6 5 speed combination.
TIRES: The Dunlop GTX is a "P" tire not a "LT" tire. I got a club cab,
2WD, with 2000 pound payload package. My truck came with LT215/75R15
Load Range D tires (65 psi max) standard. Would a tire shop even mount
"P" tires on it? Load Range C (50 psi max) would be enough for what I
use the truck for and I'm wondering if a tire shop would give me a hard
time about downgrading one load range.
