Being ATMOD-
This is just another case of being ATMOD (At the mercy of the Dealer)
I too have had similar experiences in Clinton NewYork. The Dealership
was sold about a year ago and the Service Dept was completely overhauled.
All the old mechanics and mgmt were replaced with new obviously less
qualified people. When you walk in, You see all these 5 start Gold
Customer Satisfaction Awards on the Walls. But don't be fooled... these
are from the previous owners. When I took the truck in to the old dealer
service Dept, for any work at all no matter what it was, I always always
recieved a follow up phone call asking how I was treated, quality of
Service, etc.. Since they were sold and the new guys took over, I have
had nothing but Lousy results. I took my truck in for a tranny prob -
many posts to this list about it - and Anyway... 4 visits and $350 later
and no satisfactory results. (And no Phone calls asking me about my
visit(s).) The last thing the Service mgr told me was that he was going to
check with the Chryco rep to see what he could learn. That was three weeks
ago and I haven't heard from him - despite my 3 phone calls.
To make a long story short(er) I am taking the truck to another dealer
about 40miles away (This is where the Previous Service Mgr transferred to)
and give them a try. (I trust this guy). A Letter to the Editor of the
local paper and a nasty gram to the Dealership GM are also in the works.

At any rate.. I now have a new SBEC (which I didnt need) A new EGR valve
(for a tranny prob???) that I'm doubting I needed, and Plug wires (which
I probably did need - but didn't expect would fix the problem).
If I could have diagnosed the Problem Myself, I would have fixed it myself
but I couldn't and I am therefore ATMOTD.

Whatever happened to the days when cars were Mechanical instead of
Electrical? (I used to own a '69 Mustang Fastback ,302, vertical gate Shifter
Holley 650 ... etc that I did ALL my own work on. No computer - just muscle
out the wazoo!)
Moral of the story - Find a PERSON you trust, and not a DEALER!!!
They are all Crooks
