The 97 Dakota is as different as the 94 full size was from it's predecessor.
I waited for the 97 and I'm
glad I did. A friend of mine has a 93 and it is a nice truck, but it's
based on 1980's looks and technology. From what I have read, the 97 is a
significantly better truck than the 96 model.
But, thats only my opinion.
