Sorry to post twice but Jon's message came through right after I
     mailed.

From what I've read the gains are usually in the neighborhood of 5-15
hp. The top end of that would be realized by other modifications.
Anything that increases air into or out of the motor (increased
efficiency) tends to improve with more spark. The previously
mentioned units almost guarantee full burn. The more fuel you burn
the more power the motor makes (basic theory behind nitrous and
supercharging). The Jacobs type ignitions are supposed to be able to
detect what each cylinder needs for spark and deliver that amount
independant of the other cylinders. I've read a couple of tech.
articles about installations and the claimed gains weren't quite
reached. Plus, the cost of the Jacobs setup is twice what the others
     are....not slamming 'em...just my observations.

Not to start a "me too" thread, but... me too! :)

I'm very interested in more ignition upgrade info. I've always
been sceptical about performance gains due to ignition upgrades, probably
because I don't know much (anything) about it. I think I've had the
impression that the ignition/electrical stuff is seperate of anything that
could increase power, i.e. exaust, airflow, compression, etc. It does make
sense that a stronger spark could be beneficial though... If $200 is going
to give me some decent gains, it might be a good investment. (Or at least,
I'll know what ignition components to put on the wish list.) :)

Also of interest in regards to replacing ignition stuff is how this would
affect the warrantee, if at all.
