Just an follow up to the SBEC prom thread...
With regards to Rob Cobbs comments:
> PROM stands for Programmable Read Only Memory. Read Only Memory only

While this may be true thats not what 'Read Only memory' means.
'Read Only Memory' means Ya can't Write to it. Non-volatile means
the data remains valid even during power off. However, I think that
These proms need the 12v refresh voltage because when the battery is
disconnected/reconnected the data gets reset to factory conditions?
Is this true?

If they are programmable (read that 'writeable') while they are in the
vehicle, then they are not 'Read only' are they!
Anyway I know what he is trying to say, but this still does not answer
how they are updated and how often they are updated in the vehicle. So
if the SBEC learns, (pseudo AI) are the updates periodic or contiuous?
any further comments on the subject are appreciated.
