Yes, the '97 stock replacement filter is #33-2084, the same as the Ram
     application now. The 10" x 2.25" (I think I said 2.5" before)filter
I'm looking at installing is a custom setup. I'm looking at an
Edelbrock 10" x 2" chrome air cleaner (3 1/4" total height). They go
for about $18 in Jeg's or Summit. I emailed K&N direct at
knfilters@aol.com asking if they had any 10" diamter air cleaners
between 2"-3" high. K&N sells chrome open elements types but only in
9" and 11" diamters. Plus I didn't want the K&N logo stamped in the
lid. I originally wanted a plain lid but the Edelbrock units price is
hard to beat. John from K&N emailed back the following list:

Yes...K&N has numerous 10" diameter filters. Here are a few sizes:

     10x2.00 >E-1070
     10x2.06 >E-1088
     10x2.25 >E-1080
     10x2.31 >E-1090
     10x2.50 >E-2764
     10x2.56 >E-1095
     10x2.75 >E-9080
     10x3.00 >E-1120

I'm going with the E-1080 which is the stock replacement for older Jeep
Wranglers. This size gives me slightly more surface area than the stock panel
filter, will easily clear the closed hood, and the 10" clears everything. I
test fitted a Edelbrock Pro-Flo air cleaner that I have at home and that clears
everthing but takes in the majority of its air though the top and I thought it
was just too close to the inside of the hood.

I'll post if I have any problems with the OBDII. I'm curious if the '96 Mopar
performance pieces will work on my '97. If the motor is a carryover do ya think
the '96 cam will work? For the price, though, I think I may wait for a Crane
application.

Hope someone can use the K&N info.

Does K&N make a filter for the '97? I would have thought the stupid
OBDII stuff would have carried over from the '96s to the '97s.
