I did a little more 'testing' on the way to work today. 2850 rpm = 80
Mph. 3000 rpm = 85 (all in 5th gear). I checked my '3rd gear' to 4400
rpm, and
that works out to exactly 65 mph!, then I drop into 4th and the rpm's
drop to 3000
rpm (right in the 'fat' zone), then pulls up to 4800 rpm (99-102 mph)
estimated,
too much traffic today ;). In my pickup I use 1st to move the truck,
short shift
to 2nd (about 1800 rpm), then let it torque it's way up to speed... I
was able
to do a few 1/4 mile runs (via the odometers 2-3 on the tenths) on a
flat section of
fwy yesterday... I couldn't get the 1/4 mile time (I didn't have my
watch with me),
but from a standing start, I was able to get 98 mph (per the
speedometer) at the
approximate distance. I'm calling Carlsbad Raceway today to see if I
can run there.
