Mine is similar. when my DTE gage reads 0, I panic and race for a gas
station. I have never put in more than 18-19 gallons in a 22 gallon
tank. I am curious though, if it will continue to pick up the
remaining 3-4 gallons out of the tank, but not curious enough to run
it dry...

        Steve, it will.. I put in 22.2 gallons... and I know the pump
was accurate because I filled my 5 gallon gas cans for my skis at the
same time, and have the individual gals. marked on the cans (it was
right on). Just figure under normal driving you can go at least 300 miles
on 22 gallons (14 mpg (worst case) x 22 gallons = 308 miles..) At a more
favorable 15.5 mpg x 22 gallons you should get 330 miles (341 actually).
