I have a '95 4x2 5.2L 5 speed. I get a solid 17 mpg. With 4x4 I'd expect
about 2 mpg less, since the front axle is always turning. I never get
much better on the highway, but I'm usually towing a bike trailer on the
freeway if I'm going any distance.
