I would have to say, go for the 360 and auto. I'd be willing (or is that, I am willing....) to give up my 97, 5.2L V8, 4x4 5spd for the chance at the 98 R/T, even if I had to go automatic. Hell, who would really care?

Subject: 5 speed availability and other matters

After reading all the discussion about limited availability of 5 speed/V8's, I went to the
dealership where I purchased mine (northern VA). Out of the 7 V8's (4x4 and a few 4x2's), 2 were
stick and 5 were auto.

Gas mileage...I continue to get between 16 and 17 mpg on a tank (about 360 miles). This is with
the K&N FIPK (otw as the Meldrum fresh air).

I can't sleep at night thinking about the '98 RT Dakota with a 360. If it had a stick, I would
almost uncertainly trade in and get the 360. Can't decide if I want the bigger engine with an
auto, or a little smaller engine with the stick. Oh what is one to due?

I am looking to get the Mopar headers for the '97 Dakota 4x4. My question is this...should I get
the headers installed before the Gibson dual exhaust or get the exhaust before the headers come
out. Or does it matter?

Anyway, I love this group and the discussions that are brought forward!

Mopar headers...Gibson dual exhaust someday soon I hope
