My Dakota's a 4x4 5 sp'd and has different brakes, but not that different.
Mine went 70k miles before the front pads needed to be changed and they
were just barely at the wear limit which is 0.25 inch (6 mm). If one pad
is wearing more than the other by a significant amount it's possibly due
to the caliper not sliding on it's pins (axles).

If the roads are salted in your area in the winter that could cause a
corrosion problem on the caliper and or it's mounting hardware. The only
reason I can imagine for the passenger side brakes to be causing problems
more than the drivers side would be from driving through puddles/slush
with the passenger side wheels much more than with the driver's side
wheels. Far out, but a possibility.

Good luck.
