i am needing to R&R the fuel filter on the '89. question is, do i
clamp the rubber line, flat, don't like that idea, to keep from fuel
free flow or may i get away with pulling the line, real quick inserting
a tapered round punch into the line end? would that hold with the fuel
pressure? what are your experiences with the fuel filter changeout?

Allen,

Refer to page 14-5 of the factory manual. The fuel system is
under 14 lbs of pressure. So DON'T remove any fuel lines until you
preform the "fuel system pressure release procedures". It's real simple
you just need 2 jumper wires. When you do remove the fuel lines from
the filter, have a large rag handy. Turn the fuel lines upward. A little
will flow out, but use the rag to cover the filter so the remaining fuel
doesn't spill all over when you un-bolt from the frame. I wouldn't clamp
any of the lines because this could cause the line to crack due to the
aging of rubber. If you do need to replace any fuel lines be sure you use
the proper type designed for pressurized fuel systems.

Hope this helps.
