Hey Rob;
Did just what you did, but I used a thin SS hose clamp at the base plate,
with a section of *good* 5/8 heater hose. After it has been on awhile it
will take the shape of the position it is in and not put so much pressure
on the base. One of my base plates had a metal nipple attached and one
came with a plastic 'universal' nipple that you attached with screws. I
have it routed vertical, in-front of the throttle position sensor on the
driver's side.
