RE: The best muffler

I want it all. But I will sacrifice some sound for better performance.
The Flowmasters are just too loud. So the next quieter might be the
ticket. I caught a message saying someone was happy w? their Gibson.

I have a Borla Stainless on my Porsche 911, it's way too loud. But you are
right, the workmanship is second to none. This is what's keeping me
towards a quieter muffler. The Dakota is my everyday car, I'd hate to ruin
the joy of the ride. Not to mention the stereo can only go so loud!

Thanks for the help!

Gibson, maybe. Somewhat quiet at idle with a nice big block type tone on
acceleration. These guys have a dual exit system available for the '97s.
This may be your best bet.

DynoMax Super Turbo? Hmmmm....I think somebody said these installed on a
Mustang were close to stock dB's.

DynoMax Race Magnum? No way....I've got this. You *don't* want this.
This one tells the neighbors when yer leavin' fer work.

Edelbrock? Nope. Pretty healthy performance tone.

Flowmaster? No chance.

Borla is known for good performance, excellent materials, and lower
volumes.

For a real performance gain you'll have to have at least some volume
increase. Just the nature of the beast. For the muffler to *really* flow
the design can't control sound levels too.

Are you looking for big performance gains or do you just want the dual exit
look?
