The first gen would be from 87-'90, with '91 having the first rounded
front
end. '91 also went from the recessed headlights to the flush aero style
that is
used on the '91.5-96 models.
The '97 is the first 'totally new design' for the Dakota, vs. just some
sheet
metal work on the '91 and up models..
