Regarding plugs: Has anybody "indexed" their spark plugs? For those who
don't know, this is planning your spark plug installation so that the
electrode opening ends up facing the intake. To do this, you mark the side
of the plug body that has the opening with a spot of paint, and end up with
this spot facing the intake. This can be facilitated by using gaskets of a
different thickness (within limits, of course). It doesn't result in a big
HP/torque gain, but all the racers apparently do it because it doesn't cost
anything.
