Re: dakota headers

Hey Scott and the DML guys,

My intention was not to start a pissin contest. Only to tell you what I have
clearly tested at the track. I wish I had 500.00 to spend on a guess.
I have seen and read about 92-93 dakota's running low 13's without headers. The stock
manifolds flow better than most other production types. I have used Jacobs and MSD
and they both slowed my truck down 2 tenths. This might be due to fact of retarded
static timing because of inherant delays of the cicuitry in the ignition boxes.
These delays cannot be compensated for by merely turning the distributor.
I have used Pc desktop dyno and a Drag Analyzer which showed an increase in HP but
lost bottom end(ET) because of not enough back pressure. These programs did not ask
me the configuration type(full length,Tri-Y), so there may be an argument here. If
any one on the DML can honestly confirm before and after testing at the track or with
a Vericom I am more than willing to give them A try. Thats why I called the Jacobs
stuff crap. I called for tech support and they had no clue. I thought this stuff is
supposed to be tested before put on the market. The articles you read in the mags are
sometimes misleading and the mags probobly get kickbacks from the manufacturer of
these products. People like us get convinced, buy, try, then are disappointed.
I am looking for 1/4 performance and don't care about driveability. If the parts for
the Mopar's didn't cost so much, hell I'd give it a try for the hell of it.

If I was livin in Texas, I would be at the track with you trying to figure out sure
performance gains not trying to piss on each other's cornflakes.

My goal is to wip some Z28 Butt, but as we all know, this is not an easy task.
GM did somethin right for a change.

15.05 is not bad for a Cinderblock on wheels. It's no 426 Hemi either. But for a 96
SB, Auto, 3.90 Axle, Modified exhaust with gibson catback(this we can agree on),
Crower 1.7 rockers, Transgo shift kit, and BFG Drag radials I did beat a 84 Vette.
Don't ask me how, he probobly couldn't drive. My exact pass specs for that run was
15.084 at 88.6MPH with a 60 foot of 2.14 and reaction of .534.

I'm eager to know what your Dakota runs...also, what you have done and the reasons
why you chose certain performance products. This is why I subscribed to the DML.
Thanks

STAN
