        Say good-bye to your warranty. If you're that paranoid about heat,
take a look at the engine bay of a 460 Ford. The entire firewall is
covered
in a tin-foil/fiberglass type matting... You can buy this stuff for your
truck, and
basically cover the entire engine bay to keep the heat exposure to
sensitive
items to a minimum. Problem is, any water that splashes up and gets behind
the covering will cause mildew, and will eventually make the material fall
apart.

        I've put 15k on my truck with the headers, and have had no problems
with heat (other than a battery that shorted out, but it did that once
before I got
the headers too!). The summer months out here in San Diego have been
running
85-90 F. where I live, so the AC is always on. Waiting in traffic puts a
lot of
heat up there too, as does towing in the 110-115 F. heat in our local
desert.
        A cool set of header heat shields would be interesting...but I don't think
