The bumper on my '97 sport appears to be black painted metal. No rubber or
cover that I can tell. I don't think the chrome is underneath either. I
have a small chip in one place and it appears that there is just metal
under it. I believe the sport bumper is just painted black whereas the SLT
bumper is chromed.
