FWIW,
My truck ('97 Dak,CC,V8,Auto) saw it's first Heavy Duty use this past
weekend by hauling two loads of wood to the house. I don't have the tow
package so I did see a 3" drop/sag in the bed from the load. I was mildly
concerned about stretching the springs out. Not sure what the load
weighed... it was freshly cut elm stacked to the height of the bed.
My question is this.. a long time ago when I used to get the JC Whitney
catalog I saw a set of leaf springs that you could attach to your existing
ones that would basically provide additional support. I don't expect to
tow trailers or haul wood on a regular basis, but do plan on doing that
occasionally. Has anyone had any experience with these "add-on" leaf
springs? If they are fairly inexpensive and can protect my existing ones,
they might be worth the purchase.
