The air pressure rating is the pressure required to maximize the paload
rating on the tire. It doesn't mean thats how much air is required in
them. Also, most off-road tires are a load range C which is able to
carry more weight than a passenger tire it also has stronger sidewalls
that deter punctures in off-road situations. On a pick-up the best way
to find proper air pressure is to watch tire wear, especially on the
rear. The tire should wear evenly across the tread. On my Dak I run
30psi in front and 23psi in the rear. I've still got the original 215s
on it and they still have about 50% tread left at 29000miles. I don't
baby it either.
