When I got a crack in my windshield, I called the local Dodge service
department to find out what it would cost to replace. Amazingly, I found
out that they don't replace windshields!! I buy a truck, something on it
needs to be replaced, so I take it back to the manufacturer for service,
only to be told "we don't do that"?!?! What's the difference between a
windshield and a lens cover?? Sure, due to the volume, maybe the Dodge
dealer would have to charge a lot more for the service than the local glass
people, but you'd think they'd at least offer it!! :-P

Oh well. I ended up getting it replaced by one of those places that'll
come to your house and replace it right there. Turns out the guy that
did the installation used to be a Dodge dealer in Canada. When he saw
the v8 and the 5 speed, he said, "You ordered this truck, didn't you?" :-)

Speaking of the windshield, my original got hit by a stone and made a
real nice ding, and I got another stone hit near the top edge. I came out
of work after a hot day and found the stone chip at the top had transformed
into a 1 foot crack. The windshield I've got on it right now has a crack
too. I came out of the house in the morning, and there was a crack from the
left edge into the windsheild (about 6 or 7 inches long). Is this a common
problem for the earlier body style? I've got full glass coverage, and
based on my experiences, I think I'll keep it!
