Hello,
I own a 1997 Dakota extra cab 2wd, 5.2 lt, auto trans, almost totally loaded, white, snugtop (they call it cab high) @ 1/4" to tall, slows truck by  3 mpg.  I now have 26,500 miles on it, ranking third fastest driver on my comute to work.  From day one the truck would feel like the rear drums are warped while braking, one front hub was out of spec, they have changed the front rotors at least twice, rear drums also, new pads, the brakes are not the cause. It doesn't matter if you keep on the throttle or not during braking, always humping. Also on take off if you let off the brake and almost coast off the line it has the same feeling.  Could it be the clutch on the converter, it still locks and unlocks normally.  The dealer is lost on this one.  Tonight I raised the rear wheels and the axles seem to have alot of play (in & out).  It drives me partially insane the 100 miles I log to work and back. With shell on I get 17 mpg, off @ 20 mpg.  I love this truck more than the moon, bu!
t I need a fix before I go posta
l.
Any sugestions would brighten my day, I am mechanically inclined. I operate and maintain a cogeneration power plant for a living
Thanks in advance
