It all depends on what state you live in.
Don't come to NJ and expect cheap auto insurance.
I'm 30 and my Dak is $1800. NO accidents or tickets in the past 12
years.
My finace 93 s-10 Blazer (soon to be sold to purchase a Durango) is
$1900. and she's 37 and never had a ticket or accident.

But I would still check other insurance companies.

Heck my older brother's only paying $1700 a year for insurance on a new
$21,000 truck (It's a Ford, I tried to talk him out of buying it, but oh
well) through Farm Bureau insurance and he's just 23 and has a ticket
and
a wreck on his record, so I think your getting screwed personally....
