Napalm is short for naphtha/palm oil which is what the military originally
made it from in WWII. The palm oil was a gel to hold the flammable material
and make it stick to whatever it touched. Nasty stuff. I guess a "crude"
form could be made of just about anything that burns mixed with something
to make it stick.
