Good plan. These were short-lived, sloppy-handling and low-grip (dry,
wet and snow) for me.

Yes. It's the size I went to after much research (See Dan Gregory's
reply with a similar opinion).

15 x 6

You might be able to go wider if you're willing to accept a taller than
stock tire.

Wait a minute. I thought you said your truck was TWO wheel drive.
Well, to each their own. I *was* going to suggest BFG Comp T/A HR4's,
which I am extremely happy with, but I see that is not what you are
looking for. My girlfriend has run BFG Mud T/A's and All Terrain T/A's
on her lifted-to-the-sky Explorer, and Trail T/A's on a Ranger, and says
the All Terrains are closer to the Trails in noise level, and about
halfway between the other two in dirt/mud/snow traction, and so may be
your best compromise. You can judge the gnarly-look factor for yourself
(the Muds blow the rest away IHO).

Ooh. Don't travel 200 miles. Call the Tire Rack. Their prices are
very good (if not always the very best), but they know what they are
talking about. Both in terms of tires size in relation to wheel size
and in terms of what the pros and cons of the different tires are.

or http://www.tirerack.com to take a looksie before you talk to the
experts.
The guy she talks to is Bill Ozinga (its OK to ask for sales reps by
name there) at extension 307, but they all seem to be knowledgeable (I
talk to any of 'em).
