Airbags are Joan Claybrook's legacy. The original intent was for airbags to
protect those people who did not buckle up. This was found to be impractical
and the bags were changed to become an aid to the seatbelts, a very expensive
aid at that.

My question is if air bags are so great why doesn't NASCAR, CART, Indy Car,
F1, SCCA, etc, etc use air bags ?
