And who commented about "Why do you t think they put regular oil in
when it's new? -- Because the synthetic is SO slick the parts won't
wear in right..." ???? What a bunch of HOOOEY! The new Vettes come
filled from the factory with synthetic. So there goes that theory all
to hell.... Oh, wait a minute, maybe they "pre-break them in" at the
factory....
SNAKE OIL, people. While I don't doubt that synthetic is better, I do
have reservations about wheather or not is is necessary.
*snip*
Actually, from what I have been told, both Porsche and Corvette engines
are 'bench' broken-in, then installed in the vehicles. Both of which have
the
oil changed to Mobil 1 for the customer.\
I have had 3 rebuilds on my motorcycle, and on the last rebuild I put
in Golden Spectra (synthetic)... 1 week later I had the bike in for low
power... Using the full synthetic caused the rings to glaze, and not
properly seat. I had a similar problem on my jetski a few years ago.
After I reringed the piston and honed the cylinder, and ran straight
dino oil, I had no problems during the break end. I then switched back to
synthetic there after.
So, believe what you want *just don't watch the Duralube commercial!*
Synthetic has it's advantages, and it's disadvantages.
