I don't remember experiencing that - for a week or so, I only ran the
pipe aft of the cat - no muffler at all. As far as I can remember, idle
rpm's were the same. Sure did drop the low rpm torque though. Replacing
the muffler with pipe and letting the exhaust exit fom the normal
location is perfect (for me) - cheap, and I like the sound. Too bad I'll
have to throw the muffler on for a day to get her inspected in June of
'99.
