Ron, try taking the battery by a specialist in your area if you have one.
Someone who sells nothing but batteries or most automotive part stores have
one. They have a Battery Load tester. It not only tests the voltage but
the amps at the same time, you may have a cracked platter inside the battery.

Just a guess, but I have had a similar problem on a couple marine batteries.
