Perhaps this noise is all relative. My 98 correctly directs air as indicated on the control knob. I find the noise to be
non intrusive, nor does it at any time sound as though something is amiss. My 87 Toyota 4x4 I sold last week made far
more fan noise, but it made the same noise for almost 12 years - it was just a noisy design at any speed above the
slowest.
