MSD, timing, and nitrous.

Just wondering; is it nescessary to retard the spark when using
nitrous? I was looking at MSD's web page... If I was to get nitrous,
I'd need something like the 6AL which will give me a rev limiter,
but they also have a 6BTM which lets you retard the timing up to 15
degrees with a knob on the dash. (Sounds expensive, so I hope it
isn't nescessary.) :-) I do know that some people retard the
timing, but maybe that's only for really high performance stuff? I've
got the MP SBEC which actually advances the timing, so I wonder if there
might be a problem there?

Also, seeing as how I have a manual transmission, if I were on the
juice and missed a shift, would the MSD shut down the engine fast
enough to prevent damage?
