Well I thought I would share with you my experiences last week... It was
pretty
funny actually. My drive in the morning to work changed 2 months ago with
my new job, and with that new drive I have 75% less traffic to deal with. I
go opposite the rush hour crowd, so my 20+ miles of highway driving is
pretty
pleasant (for Southern California traffic). I had hoped to drive the speed
limit
everyday, as 65 mph is a fairly good speed, and with no major traffic delays
I
wouldn't have to worry about not making it to work on time. WRONG. First
day I drove to work I was nearly run down by every single person over the
age of 16 in Southern California. Go with the flow of 75 mph doesn't fit
real
good with my Shell Oil card... (65=17-18 mpg. 75= 14.5-15.5 mpg).
Needless
to say every work day for the past two months has been 'Go with the Flow'.
Last Tuesday while running my usual 75 mph cruise to work I was tailgated
nearly
the entire way by some bonehead in a Volvo. Everytime I tried to change
lanes
to let him by he would move behind me! I finally gave up and let the poor
chump
sit behind me all the way to work. Finally on the off ramp he pulled on the
lane on
my right (both left turn lanes) and gave me a evil stare... When the light
turned green
I casually made my turn, and stopped at the next red light under the fwy.
Again
the bone head pulled up on my right. This time when the light turned green
he fought
for control as his 740 turbo wagon tried to torque steer him into the curb.
I did a 2nd
gear start (Gringe... it works for me... Can you say "Centerforce II"... I
can... ) and
once 5500 rolled around I popped 3rd (the noise my tires make when I
'semi-power
shift' 3rd gear)... I got about 2 cars lengths on him before I started my
're-entry' for
a right turn. Maybe he has the lower pressure turbo... LOL...
