You are right about the aluminum shaft amplifying your gear noise,
Tomdamit. My new 4.10's were quiet as can be until I installed an
aluminum racing shaft. Now they howl like a banshee between 60 and 70
mph. The solution, of course, is just to keep the road speed at about
80!

It seems that my aluminum shaft doesn't have the damper my steel one
did, and while it got rid of all my driveline vibration, it did increase
noise somewhat. Damn GM, who would put a 7.5" gear in a 300 HP car?
