Re: roller-tip rockers???

The first thing that shocked me about the new CC rockers were that they
took the crappy Ford design and just duplicated it (I think anyway from the
pictures that I have seen). This design is really horrible in every
respect except for the cost. The rockers are cheaper due to stamped steel
(cheaper than casting), aligned by the "sled fulcrum" (cheaper than close
tolerance alingment holes in the heads or guideplates), and positive stop
(no adjustment possible so that the factory can pump them out faster).
Really and truly junk, but satisfactory for the grocery getter I suppose.
Their real main problems for hotrodders is mainly severe friction at the
sled fulcrum area which Crane make a fix kit for the Fords, wide tolerance
range for the rocker ratio, and you need the adjustment if you are really
playing with the engine like valve jobs, head/block milling, and/or cam swaps.

Now the Crower stainless rockers that I have used before are truly
beautiful and worth their money. Comp cams supposedly now makes some
*hopefully* cheaper ones that use a ball fulcrum and roller tip just for
the modern Magnum motors that would probably not need the valve covers to
be touched.
