In a message dated 98-04-10 20:33:10 EDT, you write:

<< When this List was first started and for quite awhile postings were
ON topic useful, interesting and useful most of the time and thus the
volume of postings was reasonable. Recently the volume has
substantially increased due to it being used like a "party line" for
lonely people!! Now the wheat is getting buried with all the Chaff. Is
there anything that can be done to encourage more relevant use??

Your right and I'm as guilty as anyone. I'm not only interested in the Dakotas
but alos the Dakota people. It is very easy to find something in anybodies
messages that catches our interst and comment on it and get off the beaten
path. It is good for someone to bring this up from time to time (in a orderly
manner,as above) to remind us who drift off the beaten path to clean up our
acts. In the between times where things get a drift I find that in my e-mail
program the messages are listed by subject and author and after reading one or
two messages on a subject I find if it is of any interest to me and then
delete any other messages of subjects that are of no interest to me. This way
I get to read and enjoy what I like and others can do the same. There have
been tons of messages lately and many new contributors, which leads to off
track messages welcoming the new folks. The bottom line is we all need to try
to keep this Dakota related as much as possible and thanks for the friendly
reminder to do that..

Bill
