RE: Using 4HI on pavement

Not a good plan. The center diff is locked in 4H, and it puts a ton of
stress on the driveline components when on "high grip" surfaces such as
dry pavement as everything is locked together, and wheels need to be
able to turn at different speeds (going around corners, etc.). The
owners manual as well as the sticker on the drivers visor is quite clear
about this in my '97...

Is it ok to drive in 4Hi on pavement? It seems to be ok and all 4 tires
grab
like heck when pulling out in traffic, its great. I know better than to
drop
down into 4L and be on sticky surfaces but what is the difference as far
as
what is engaging in the drivetrain when someone goes into 4H/4L?
