Well, all of the Ford Lightning's came with the good engine components from the factory (also a 4.10 limited slip out back). The only problem is that the factory never sets the timing for power. When my friend first got his truck it did only run 15.4's. But when I checked the base timing it was only at 8 deg BTDC. Bumping it up to 14 deg w/ 93 octane pump gas & a K&N filter immediately dropped it in to the 14's. It is also getting faster as it gets broken in. The performance of a new engine is usually never as good as one that is well broken in.

That is why I will wait to race him w/ my RC 5.9 R/T until it gets at least 3000mi on the clock.

hmm.. wonder how fast I am, because I can sucessfully chase and run down ford
lightnings even with their super high flow GT-40 heads and intake and all that
good stuff.......... are you sure he runs consistant 14.9s??? I thought they
went more like a 15.5 stock...
