Appears to be normal for us folks with the 5spd. Mine does it too. I
noticed it when I was driving the truck home from the dealer for the
first time with only 12 miles on it, and thought there was something
wrong. I've driven manual trans vehicles for many years, some with
programmed fuel injection, and I've never seen any do this.

Either poor programming of the SBEC, or poor design. IMHO this idle
surge contributes or causes the exhaust backfire/popping that us
5speeders experience during engine braking/deacceleration. Makes sense -
extra fuel is surging in when the engine should be at flat idle.

In any case, I've found it to more of a nuisance than anything else.
Hasn't seemed to cause any problems in 5K miles.
