james,
As soon as I expressed interest in an R/T the dealer said "we already sold
ours, we cant get anymore til 99 and we are marking them up". I still had
to have one. They were nice and apologetic but inflexible. They called me
the next day and said they intercepted one "still on the truck" heading to
L.A and do I want it. That zombie feeling took over and the only thing out
of my mouth was yes. The dealers attitude saved me an entire day of
negotiating (put that "cost" at around 250.00$ for saving me a day of
hassling) what a SAVINGS...I did get it in a week (from the time of "must
have" syndrome onset) with only 6.5 miles on the odometer. The total gig
for the 98 R/T CC in amethyst with everything but the power seats, overhead
console and trailer hookup package (did they offer 4 wheel ABS? if so I dont
have that either) was 26,400.00. This included the dealer markup. I
couldnt find another one in SanDiego or Orange County. The dealer had
already generated a "non bogus" list of 4 people willing to pay that+ for
my truck if I backed out, and they said I could back out at any time. They
had no incetive to sell it to me, therfor no bargaining incentive at all.
Sport trucks are big in San Diego, and most people here seem to think a
truck is a car with a big trunk. Location Location Location.

dealer down to $20.5K and throw in a Mopar bedliner and bug shield. The bug
shield actually looks pretty cool w/ the mono-chromatic paint job.
